Maybe you’ve never heard of a design + build project. Maybe you’ve heard of it, but you don’t really know if it’s right for you. Or maybe you know exactly what it means and you’re ready to get started (like, now). Whatever the case may be, I’m ready to dive into this project with you, whether you’re in Sioux Falls or outside the region. While I may be an interior designer, my job isn’t just making rooms look pretty.

Let’s talk a little bit about the design + build process to find out if it’s right for you.

What is a design + build project?

If you’ve never heard of design + build, it’s pretty simple—you and I work together to design your perfect, one-of-a-kind custom home. Then we build it. There are a few steps in-between, of course, such as interviewing builders, comparing bids, choosing a builder, and making sure the work gets done. Here’s how I help you do that.

Putting the design in design + build

From the overall layout of your home to the most intricate details, we’ll make sure your home is designed to meet every need (and want) we possibly can. I’ll also work with you to make all the finish selections necessary to complete your new home. This includes exterior finishes as well as interior finishes like:

Flooring
Countertops
Cabinetry
Mill work
Paint colors
Lighting
Tile
Hardware
And more

My goal is to ensure all of your spaces work together in a way that just feels right. Combine that with a style that’s uniquely you, and it becomes a perfect fit.

Time to build

While we’re working on the design, we’ll also be finding the right builder. With any custom home project, you want a contractor you feel good about. You also want a contractor who respects your budget. Once those boxes are checked, it’s time to build. At that point, you can count on me to:

Create an overall schedule and timeline for the work to be completed
Coordinate and work closely with each trade partner (contractor, plumber, electrician, etc.)
Be available to answer any and all questions as the project unfolds
Stop by the job site regularly to ensure work is progressing on schedule and as planned
Celebrate with you when the project is finished and your dream home is your dream-come-true home

Enjoy your new home

Building a custom home through the design + build process doesn’t have to be hard. While that doesn’t mean it’s always easy, I’ve actually had clients tell me, “This was so fun, I want to do it again…” Hearing that from a client is what makes me love my job so much.
